Admission Requirements - Freshman Transfer

This page describes the admission requirements for undergraduate freshman transfer students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Students applying as undergraduate freshmen transfer students must meet the minimum requirements listed below.

1. Fulfill the definition of an undergraduate freshman transfer student at UNLV:

UNLV defines freshmen transfer students as those who are more than 15 years of age, have graduated (or will graduate) from an accredited or approved high school, and have earned less than 24 transferable college credits by the time they enter UNLV.
2.

Have at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) in your transferable college credits. You must be in good academic standing and eligible to return to the educational institution last attended.

3.

Have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA in the following high school academic units:

COURSES UNITS
ENGLISH: Emphasis on composition, rhetoric, and American, English, and world literature 4
MATHEMATICS: Algebra or higher level mathematics, including first and second year algebra, geometry, analytic geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, probability and statistics, and other advanced mathematics

SOCIAL SCIENCE: World history, geography, U.S. history, economics, government and law 3
NATURAL SCIENCE: Biology, chemistry, and physics, with at least two years in a laboratory science 3

TOTAL UNITS:

Test Scores of a minimum 1040 SAT (combined reading/math) or a 22 ACT (composite) may be used in the admissions process. For consideration, please have an official test score report sent to UNLV from the testing agency.

Transferable Courses
Transferable courses are defined as college credit earned at a regionally accredited school and are NOT listed as religious, remedial, or vocational. Once admitted, your academic department will make a determination on how your transferable courses will fit into your degree program.
