The Nevada Kids Count Data Book (annual) provides county-by-county profiles of the state of children and youth in Nevada, including statistical portraits of children in our state by looking at child well-being indicators that affect them. A downloadable or free hard copy version of this publication is available from CBER.

Las Vegas Housing Market Conditions (quarterly) presents the latest information on home sales, mortgage rates, permitting, home price, apartment rental and vacancy rates, and more. Southern Nevada Factbook (annual) provides data on population, number of households, migration, gender and racial distributions, education level, air and highway traffic, tourism and gaming, retail sales, housing sales, building permits, employment, income for the area, political subdivisions, and zip codes since 1969. Southern Nevada Business Directory (annual) is a valuable guide for consumers, salespeople, investors, and competitors. The Business Directory lists virtually every business in southern Nevada. It provides information on size, address, phone number, and type of business. It is available in four versions: by type of business according to the US government's North American Industry Classification system, by number of employees, alphabetically by business name, or by ZIP code. Migration Statistics Summary (annual) profiles southern Nevada as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. The Migration Statistics Summary provides data based on driver's license redemption for the number of Las Vegas newcomers by age, state of origin, and month of arrival since 1986. Betting on Nevada’s Children: A Plan for Education Reform in the Silver State presents a plan to divert funding to early childhood education, which provides a higher rate of return on investment, from the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Immigrant Youth in Nevada: Determinants of High School Dropouts looks at the current status of Nevada’s foreign-born youth’s educational status -- more particularly, their educational participation/high-school dropout rate. This issue brief examines possible determinants that may contribute to an immigrant youth dropping out of high school and suggested actions to help retain foreign-born students. Adolescent Depression looks at mood disorders in the teen population, the connection of these conditions to the teen-suicide epidemic, and depression-treatment options. Childhood Obesity looks at possible culprits of the childhood obesity epidemic. Internet Crimes Against Children provides general information on Internet crimes related to children, gives rules parents/guardians can use to ensure online safety for their children, and cites resources for information and prevention (Nevada KIDS COUNT Issue Brief, Issue 4, 2003). Transition from Care: The Status and Outcome of Youth Who Have 'Aged Out' of the Foster Care System in Clark County, Nevada details the results of a study of the serious difficulties faced by a significant portion of teens in Nevada's largest urban area as they move from foster care to life on their own (Nevada KIDS COUNT Issue Brief, Issue 2, 2001). Characteristics and Challenges of Families Who Adopt Children with Special Needs: An Exploratory Study reports on research about the need for postadoption services to reduce the problems faced by families who adopt special-needs children. The first in a series of publications featuring a specific area related to the well-being of children and youth (Nevada KIDS COUNT Issue Brief, Issue 1, 2000). Also available online.

Nevada KIDS COUNT Action Guide: The Well-Being of Children and Youth Is Everyone's Business provides practical policy information regarding the following areas of concern to Nevada's children: at-risk youth, health, education, and abuse/neglect. Also available online.

Preventive Factors: Promising and Proven Practices presents recommendations that can make a positive difference in the lives of children. Also available online.

The Center also performs survey research and analysis for public, private, and nonprofit clients. Publications resulting from these surveys include the annual Las Vegas Perspective (available in print every spring from Nevada Development Authority) and topical projects such as Projection 2003: A Report on the Future of the Southern Nevada Commercial Real Estate Industry (for the UNLV Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies) and Hoover Dam Bypass for the Bureau of Reclamation.
