Samson
This are photographs of Endstation Samson TOF. Samson is simpler than David, and does not have the magnetic shielding. This endstation is used primarily for ion time-of-flight analyzing. The design utilizes a channeltron detector, and channel plates. The opposite charges on the channel plates accelerates the ions, causing increased collisions, which results in an electron gain. The use of a delay tube slows the electrons enough to be picked up by the electronics. These electrons are gathered on a back metal plate and counted. Samson is most often used during timing runs on the beamline.
