Thomas A. Romberg is former
Director of the National Center for Improving Student Learning and Achievement
in Mathematics and Science at WCER and Professor of Curriculum and Instruction
(mathematics education).
Romberg has a long history
of leadership of mathematics curriculum reform. His research has focused on
young children's learning of initial mathematical concepts, methods of
evaluating students and programs, and integrating research on teaching,
curriculum, and student thinking. In 1997 he received the National Council of
Teachers of Mathematics' Lifetime Achievement Medal in Leadership, Teaching, and
Service.
