Pat Jordan
opened the business meeting. The minutes from the 2007 business meeting were
reviewed and approved. A later correction of the name of David Bolivar was made
to the minutes.
Bea Babbitt
and Mary Swarthout gave the treasurer’s report in the absence of Dixie Metheny.
A motion was approved to accept the report.
Sheryl
Maxwell gave the VP for Publications report. Jean Schmittau will continue as
editor of FOCUS. Gabriel Matney was appointed as interim editor of the
newsletter due to the sabbatical of Michael Naylor. Roland Pourdavood reported
membership of 150 including five new members. He noted that 60% of the members
have held membership for five or more years. Pat Jordan gave Roland a gift
certificate as thanks for his service.
David
Bolivar, VP of Conferences, reported about 60 registrations for the conference.
He announced the 2009 conference will be hosted by BerryCollege
in Rome, Georgia next year. Information on
the conference will be given in upcoming newsletters and posted on the website.
There was no
old business.
New business
includes nominations for upcoming elections. Board positions to be elected
include VP for Publications, Secretary and two Committee Conference members.
New officers
were welcomed: President Elect Anne Reynolds, Treasurer Mary Swarthout, VP for
Conferences Carolyn Pinchback and Azita Manouchehri.

Publications and Interest Survey. The feedback from this form will help the
board make future improvements and decisions.
