Tuition & Fees

Plan A : Students participating on Plan A pay the host school’s in-state tuition and fees to the host school. Financial aid and tuition for Plan A students, costs for housing, and general information on schools can be found in the NSE brochure.  Tuition varies from campus to campus. Please note that the information is subject to change. Verify the handbook information when selecting schools.

Plan B : Students participating on Plan B pay UNLV tuition to UNLV. Students participating in the NSE program on Plan B will be charged for 15 credits of UNLV tuition regardless of the number of credits the student enrolls in at the host campus.  All schools have a limit to the number of credits students can enroll in each semester.  Plan B participants will be billed at the same tuition rate they would be paying if attending the UNLV campus (in-state, WUE, good neighbor, out-of-state).

Additional fees (Plan A & B)
In addition to tuition (Plan A) and fees (Plan A and B), all participants are responsible for paying "normal" expenses to the host institution for room and board, and possibly other fees charged by the host institution.  Tuition, fees, housing, transportation to and from the host school, and other costs are the responsibility of the student.

Placement Availability

Even: The host school will accept only as many students for exchange as they place on exchange.

Uneven: The host school is more flexible than even but less flexible than open.

Open: The host school will accept as many students as apply for placement during the annual conference.

1:1: The host school will only accept a student from UNLV only if they have a student coming to UNLV.

In general, open is the best odds of placement, then uneven, even and then 1:1.

Limitations

Limitations are generally "warnings" that courses in certain majors may be extremely competitive, require pre-requisites, auditions, portfolios, etc.

Closed Programs

Some universities list "Closed Programs." If your major is listed as a "closed program" at a university you are interested in, that university may not accept you as part of the NSE program or may accept you with the condition that you will not be allowed to enroll in courses within your major.

Special Circumstances

Some schools may require full year placements, not accept spring placements, not accept international students, charge significant fees, require medical insurance, etc. Any "unusual" requirements that are known before the catalogs are published should be listed with other information for that particular school. There may be other requirements not listed in the catalog. If you have questions or any "special" requirements for your exchange, please contact us for more information.

Honors Courses and Programs

Many NSE member schools allow NSE students to access honors courses. More information is available from http://www.nse.org under "Student Information, Special Opportunities, Honors Exchange."

Exchange with Canada

Under its Canadian Partners Program, NSE offers opportunities for exchange with Canadian colleges and universities. For the most part, exchange between U.S. and Canadian universities is similar to exchanging to any NSE member school.
