The PEBP Board has approved new premium rates for health insurance, which will be effective Nov. 1. Information regarding these rates is available at http://pebp.state.nv.us/. Click on "Active Employee" under Plan year 2010 Open Enrollment Guide.
In other action, the PEBP Board also approved to move forward with providing coverage for domestic partners and domestic partner dependents on a self-paid basis. Since the Legislature did not fund benefits for Domestic Partners, the PEBP Board needed to decide how the coverage could be funded. Testimony from NSHE representatives suggested options that would allow coverage to move forward with the employee shouldering the cost; therefore not requiring any additional funding from the State. Premiums for domestic partners and domestic partner dependents will be paid solely by the employee requesting the coverage and will not be subsidized. The PEBP Board is planning on meeting next week to discuss details on procedures and an effective date for Domestic Partner coverage. An update to campus will be sent once notice of the date and time for this meeting is confirmed.
