Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Casas
At the beginning of the academic year, the
History Department’s Graduate Coordinator conducts an information
session to help answer questions about course work requirements,
comprehensive exam preparation, graduate assistantships, and academic
advising. The Graduate Coordinator also provides academic advising
for all first year students. This includes drafting a plan for course
work to complete the M.A. or Ph.D. degree and course registration
information each semester.

During the first semester the Graduate
Coordinator holds information sessions on a range of topics. These
include preparing for comprehensive exams, writing a thesis prospectus,
submitting proposals for conference papers, joining professional
organizations, preparing for job interviews, and publishing scholarly
work.
Although during the second year of course work students
usually choose an Academic Advisor, the Graduate Coordinator continues
to provide course registration information. |
