Accountability in Government Excellence

The Department of Public Administration provides leadership in creating and disseminating knowledge on critical issues for organizations that serve the public.

Nevada’s PAGE (Program Accountability and Government Excellence) was initiated in order to allow faculty and students to work to help government achieve accountability and excellence through education, trained research and service.
Activites of NV Page include:

Dr. Bernick and Stream's State of Nevada’s Certified Public Management Program. Forums to provide government decision makers nonpartisan information and MPA students, as part of the capstone experience, work in teams to conduct policy analysis or program evaluation for government programs here in Nevada.

Project of the Year

Promotional Selection Process Program Evaluation,

City of Las Vegas, Human Resources

By: Rik Holman, Cecil Johnson, April Thomas & Steve Weber

Students conducted executive interviews, surveys and a review of policy to ascertain employee perceptions of diversity and their workplace environment.  Results from the survey suggest a significant amount of employees’ suspect preferential treatment occurs, for certain employees, during the promotion process. The evaluation team worked with the Human Resource Department to make changes to some of the issues correlated with the perception of impropriety in the promotions process
