Student Groups The University Association of Social Work Students at UNLV's School of Social Work is an organization specifically directed towards students majoring in Social Work UASWS connects the members with the social workers and resources in the community, on campus and with other students. UASWS unites the students through fund raisers, community service projects and social activities. Every year, the UASWS members are involved in a project which benefits the community. UASWS has participated in such events as the Stand Down for the Homeless. This annual event provides free services to the homeless and, at the same time, obtain statistical data for social service agencies. UASWS also sponsored the Shade Tree Women's shelter and gave a helping hand to the American Association of Retired Persons Senior Day at the Park. UASWS is an excellent forum for social work students to share ideas, experiences, concerns and to have a voice in the Social Work department. UASWS can enrich each students' educational and occupational opportunities. Most of all, UASWS helps students to network. UASWS is only as good as its members. The more involvement, the more enjoyment. You can take part in the following committees:
