Besides working throughout the desert southwest of the United States, faculty
in the Geoscience Department conduct research worldwide working in rainforest
caves in Costa Rica, on the plains of Antarctica, the Atacama desert
of Chile, and deep in the heart of China. The Geoscience faculty’s
research interests are focused in four main areas: Hard rock processes,
soft rock processes, surficial processes, and tectonic processes.
The department includes a core faculty of 19 with several research faculty,
faculty emeriti, adjunct appointments and post-doctoral investigators.
There are 46 students conducting research in the 2005/2006 Geoscience
graduate
program.
