The scholarships listed below are only those for which the recipients are determined by a committee in the College of Liberal Arts. Departments within the college may also have grants, fellowships, and scholarships available to their majors. You should, therefore, also contact the department of your major for additional information regarding such awards.

Albrecht Alumni Scholarship
Amount: $1000 ($500 per semester, fall/spring) Offered on a rotational basis so may not be offered every year.
Eligibility: Must demonstrate a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Must register as a full-time student enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for each fall and spring semesters.
Notification Date: April. Award letter will be sent by Alumni Office.
How Decided: Candidates do not apply; we receive recommendations from our departments.
Barnes and Noble Bookstore Scholarship
Amount: Award(s) totaling $270 (spring & fall). Two to three awards.
Eligibility: Liberal arts major
Notification Date: Prior to the start of each semester. Award letter will be sent by Student Life office.
How Decided: Candidates do not apply; chairs recommended two students per department based on financial need and academics.
Berkley Family Pre-Law Scholarship
Amount: $1000 (fall award)
Eligibility: Liberal Arts major; undergraduate in junior or senior standing; minimum 3.0 GPA; must complete the UNLV Scholarship Application (through Financial Aid & Scholarships); must complete the Berkley Family Pre-Law Application.
Deadline: March
Notification Date: April
How Decided: Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of GPA and responses to questions posed in the Berkley Application. Preference will be given to students who plan to practice law in Nevada. Finalists may be asked to interview with the scholarship committee.
CSUN Scholarship
Amount: Varies from year to year.
Eligibility: Undergraduate in sophomore, junior, or senior standing; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; Previous semester GPA of 2.75 or better; full-time enrollment.

How Decided: Candidates do not apply; our College Financial Aid Committee makes the final decision.
Dr. Hal K. Rothman Doctoral History
Graduate Student Award
Amount: $12,000 fall/spring graduate assistantship; $7,000 summer graduate award
Eligibility: Complete UNLV scholarship application; admitted full-time doctoral student; history major specializing in U.S. history; minimum GPA of 3.50; forward completed application packet to the Department of History.
Notification Date: Prior to start of Fall semester
How Decided: History Department Graduate Committee will review applications and forward selection to the History faculty. If recommendation is accepted, the History Department Graduate Committee with meet with University Libraries representative to review recommended candidate. If all parties agree, award letter will be sent to applicant.
Edward Lovinger Psychology Scholarship
Amount: $1,500 (fall award)
Eligibility: Complete FAFSA application and UNLV scholarship application; admitted full-time graduate student majoring in psychology; minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients may reapply in subsequent years, provided they maintain the scholarship criteria.
Notification Date: Prior to start of Fall semester
How Decided: The Department of Psychology Scholarship Committee and/or representatives from the Dean's Office will select candidate(s) from applications received through Financial Aid & Scholarships.
Harold L. Boyer and Judith Boyer
History Student Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 (fall award)
Eligibility: Complete FAFSA application and UNLV scholarship application; admitted full-time student majoring in history; minimum 3.0 GPA; preference given to students specializing in oral history, particularly oral history of Nevada.
Notification Date: Prior to start of Fall semester
How Decided: The candidate(s) shall be selected by a College of Liberal Arts scholarship committee comprised of representatives selected by the Chair of the Department of History and the Dean's Office from applications received through Financial Aid & Scholarships.
Jerry Kalafatis Lodge Charitable Foundation Scholarship
Amount: $3000 ($1500 per semester, fall/spring)
Eligibility: Must complete UNLV scholarship application; must be fully admitted to UNLV; must be enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts; preference to students demonstrating financial need; preference to students majoring in history; preference to students of Greek heritage or students who focus on ancient history and in particular, Greek history.

How Decided: Candidates do not apply; our college financial aid (scholarship) committee makes the final selection in cooperation with Financial Aid & Scholarships.
University Forum Fellowships
Amount: Two fellowships, $500 each (spring award)
Eligibility: Junior class standing (must be returning to UNLV the following year); minimum GPA of 3.5; current enrollment in 12 or more credits; must be enrolled in 12 or more credits for the entire period of the award; a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
Notification Date: November
How Decided: Candidates do not apply; they must be nominated by a faculty member. The college financial aid committee will invite nominees to write an essay on an assigned topic. In the case of numerous candidates, the financial aid committee may decide to prescreen candidates prior to extending the essay invitation.
The committee will evaluate the essays and may decide to interview the finalists.
One of the fellowships is specifically for a student majoring in the College of Liberal Arts. The other fellowship may be given to a student in any college or major on campus (including liberal arts).
Vista Group Outstanding Graduating Senior
Amount: $1000 and a plaque from the Vista Group (spring award)
Eligibility: Must graduate in August, December, or May of the current academic year; minimum GPA of 3.5; at least 50 percent of credits must have been earned at UNLV.
Notification Date: February
How Decided: Candidates do not apply; they must be nominated by the department of their major. Each department is eligible to nominate its outstanding graduating senior. The nomination must include an unofficial transcript, list of other awards or recognitions, and one writing sample (preferably a research paper with instructor ’s comments). A committee composed of college faculty and administrators will evaluate the materials and select a recipient. The committee may decide to interview nominees.
Wing & Lilly Fong Scholarship
Amount: $500 (fall award)
Eligibility: Asian Studies concentration or; enrollment in second-semester Chinese language with a grade of B or better in first-semester Chinese language or; must have completed first-year Chinese language with a grade of B or better, and waiting to take second-year Chinese language.
Notification Date: October
How Decided: Students must be nominated by faculty; more than one student may be nominated; student may win this award a maximum of two times.
