
Chris L. Heavey, Ph.D.
Chris Heavey received his B.A. in psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 1985 and his doctorate in clinical psychology from UCLA in 1991. He joined the UNLV Department of Psychology in 1992. His early research focused on marital communication. More recently his research has involved exploring inner experience including the inner experience of those suffering from depression. Over the years he has taught a wide range of courses from introductory psychology up through graduate seminars in clinical psychology. He has been recognized several times for excellence in teaching. He has also served in numerous administrative roles including graduate coordinator, director of clinical training, interim department chair, and as president of the Nevada Psychology Board. When he isn’t at work he stays busy working with his wife to raise their two sons.
