Biography

Dr. Forster received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Oregon State University and his doctoral degree in materials science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently an associate professor in the department of chemistry & biochemistry, and is appointed as faculty in the radiochemistry program.

Research

Dr. Forster's research focuses on the synthesis of new materials with an emphasis on materials exhibiting nanoporosity. Structural techniques, especially single crystal and powder diffraction, are important in their group. With their team's increasing interest in gas separation/storage problems, they have developed a substantial expertise in gas solid interactions, which they study through a variety of techniques.

Expertise

Solid State and Materials Chemistry, Crystallography, Neutron Scattering, Hydro/Solvothermal Synthesis, Nanoporous Materials, Gas Sorption, Fission Gas Storage/Separation
